When most people think about portrait photography they think about stuffy looking family photos shot in some studio with a fake looking background. Perhaps it means being forced to dress up in their “best” clothes while kids squirm and complain. Well your portrait doesn’t have to be that way...
Imagine having a photo shoot in your favourite places... places that actually mean something to you and your family. Maybe that means having a photo shoot at your home, favourite beach, park or holiday place.
Use your portraits to tell a story
Because I’m an artist I love to use your photo shoot to tell a story and this can be presented in a book filled with those special memories as well as choosing the favourites that you hang on the wall.
For example I’ve done “A Day in the Life” shoots that may involve the whole family squashed into a bed, around the breakfast table, portraits in the house, children with backpacks leaving for school, soccer training, piano lessons, pets, a family trip to the beach or park, a visit with grandparents, and finishing with quiet and loving moments together before bed.
Most of us know how our children grow up too fast and our elders leave us too soon. So don’t lose the opportunity to capture those special and fleeting memories forever in a beautifully bound book.

Getting the best results
for your pictures
A relaxed shoot is better... so I want you to feel calm and we will take the time we need. I allow 2 hours but generally it only takes about 40 minutes to get the shots we need... so you don’t have to stress and rush around trying to get people organised. Because the more stressed you get... the more the kids play up and the less fun it is for everyone...
It also means letting the kids be themselves... choosing their own outfit and props/toys etc. If they feel they have control of their photos then they’re more likely to enjoy and participate in the family shots (plus those photos can come out great as the kids are happy and being themselves).
In the case that something doesn’t go to plan there’s no need to worry. As they say “never work with children or animals” and despite all my tricks and techniques sometimes we just can’t get the photos we want. When that happens then we can book a reshoot at no extra charge to you.
And for the record “why wouldn’t I work with children and animals?” I love working with them and capturing those special and fleeting memories. So don’t miss out on capturing their “now” as it only lasts a moment.
