Waata Kukutai was the most amazing man, a visionary and pacifist, way ahead of his time, and he strived for a future where Maori and Pakeha could live, learn, work and dream together. This was amazing to create ... it came together smoothly which doesn't happen often. Kukutai is related to me by marriage and I felt his presence watching over me as I drew.
