Tuakau ITM Wearable Arts

Tuakau College ITM Wearable Arts is held every year and is quickly gaining a following.  The entries are getting better and more creative every year.

wwebwinter.jpgIn 2008, Shannon modelled "Winter's Gift". Yearly, Winter gifts her child to spring and she takes with her the first buds of spring, bridging the gap between winter and summer.  Although we didn't place this year the costumes were clever and the show entertaining.  Well worth a visit, and we will be back next year. see more photos

webMerchild.jpgIn 2007 I won the "From the Sea" category with Shannon modeling "Merchild", a child that was moving from the sea to the land, so she has her feet, and her tail is atrophied but she stil carries the baggage from the sea...shells, driftwood etc. She also has started to collect some seeds and pods from the land.  The sea has marked her as his by 'tatooing' one half of her with his colours, in the swirls of the ocean.

Also in 2007 I won the "Trash to Fashion", and ultimately the "Supreme Award" with "Volvo Man and his Volvo Pup".  Elton from Cafe Kaos modelling the outfit that was constructed from pieces of his old trashed Volvo Car.  Volvo Pup was made from the leftovers and kept in case they were needed when he 'trandformed' back into the volvo.
